New travel soccer teams now forming

Jamestown Soccer is pleased to announce the fielding of two competitive teams in the RI Fall Super Liga: one U12 boys' team and one U12 girls' team.

Under 12 players, who were born between Aug. 1, 1996 and July 31, 1998, interested in playing quality competitive travel soccer against neighboring towns this fall are encouraged to attend the initial open training sessions.

JSA players wishing to play on both Competitive and Rec teams may do so as the game days and practice days will be different. Registration for the competitive teams will be via the JSA website after approval from the respective coaches following the initial training sessions.

The Fall Super Liga is a slightly less formal version of the Spring Super Liga. It has a shorter season, no playoffs and requires a more modest time commitment. Additionally, larger roster sizes allow more players to participate.

Games for Fall JSA competitive teams will be played on seven Sunday afternoons at Eldred Field and neighboring town fields in September and October. The dates are Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and Oct. 5, 19 and 26. There will likely be one weekday training session per week between games.

The girls' team will be coached by Jay Primiano and Julie Kallfelz, and the boys will be coached by Jay Sisson. All interested players are welcome and encouraged to attend open training sessions over the next two weeks.

The next boys' training session will take place Monday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 7:15 p.m., at Jamestown's Eldred Field. The initial girls' team training sessions will be as announced via email by Coaches Primiano and Kallfelz.

The Fall Super Liga provides an additional opportunity for Jamestown players and teams to develop individual and team play and continue the momentum and success of the '08 spring competitive season. It is anticipated that the players on these fall teams will form the core of the competitive teams for the spring of 2009.

Registration costs for fall competitive are $40 per player. Uniforms are the same as those required for spring competitive teams.
