Men to perform eclectic choral program

The Men's Chorus of Jamestown will present its annual concert on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Recreation Center in Jamestown. The family-oriented program has been a favorite end-of-summer event for years on Conanicut Island.

Director and founder B.J. Whitehouse will lead the men through a program that can only be described as eclectic. The men sing cowboy songs and music from the Russian liturgy as well as music from the 1860s and from the 1960s. Doo-wop, Gregorian chant and sea shanties are on the musical menu for the concert.

In addition, the men are scheduled to sing the National Anthem at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket on Friday, Aug. 29.

The Recreation Center is located at 41 Conanicus Ave. opposite the Jamestown waterfront. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door or by calling 423-1574 for reservations. Check www.jamestownri. com/ifdss/men for further information or call 423-1574.
