Hunt remembered at annual golf tourney
The Jamestown Medical Fund will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Jamestown Golf Course.
The event will honor the memory of Phil Hunt, an avid golfer who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.
The tourney will be a best ball format and will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Included in the $45 per person price is lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and salad, as well as nine holes of golf and a cart. There will be great raffle prizes and first place prizes.
A sign-up sheet is at the golf course.
The tournament supports the medical fund, whose mission is to assist those in need "bridge the gap" when medical expenses vital to their continued health exceed their ability to pay. The focus is to help those residents of Jamestown cover medical expenses related to an injury or illness that their insurance or personal resources fail to cover.
The Jamestown Medical Fund obtains its funds from charity events and direct contributions from individuals in the community.
Applications may be obtained at Baker's Pharmacy and Jamestown Family Practice or by writing to the JMF, PO Box 236, Jamestown, RI 02835.
