Newport Navy Choristers need new voices

The Newport Navy Choristers are seeking new voices in all vocal ranges for the upcoming 2008-2009 season.

The Navy Choristers are a mixed choral group open to all members of the Newport Navy community, including active duty, reserve and retired military, their spouses and family members 16 years of age and older. All Civil Service employees are also welcome to join.

There are no auditions for the main chorus. While experience is helpful, it is not necessary.

Rehearsals start on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. and continue Tuesdays thereafter at the Chapel of Hope at NAVSTA Newport on the Naval Base in Newport.

For more information, call Pat McGue, chairman, at 849-1135 or JoAnn Loewenthal, director, at 849-4823 or check out the Newport Navy Choristers' Web site at www.newportnavychoristers.org.

The Jamestown Teen Center will begin its school-year hours starting Monday, Sept.1 at the Recreation Center, 41 Conanicus Ave.

School-year hours will be Monday through Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 9 p.m.

All teens in grades 7 through 12 are welcome to register with the program. For more information, contact Teen Coordinator Debbie Tungett at 423-7261 or e-mail jamestownteens@yahoo.com
