Exercise, ballet classes coming to golf course
      The Jamestown Recreation Department will offer more adult exercise classes that will begin the week of Sept. 8. Pilates will be taught by Mary Beth Murphy on Mondays at 6 p.m. and every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Kim Chandler will be teaching Mellow Vinyasa yoga every Monday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. Chandler will also be teaching a yoga class at 5:30 p.m.

Marshall to speak at garden club meeting
      This month's meeting of the Quononoquott Garden Club will be on Monday, Sept. 8, at St. Matthew's Parish Hall. The business meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a presentation by island gardener Roger Marshall on "Putting the Garden to Rest for the Winter.

Cub scouts host sign-up event
      Jamestown Cub Scout Pack 1 will hold its annual Cub Rally at Fort Getty on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in joining Cub Scouts or learning more about the pack should attend this event. Volunteers from the Pack will be on hand to answer any questions about Cub Scouts and to register new members.

Storyhour at library begins next week
      Weekly Preschool Story Times will resume Wednesday, Sept. 3. Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to meet for Mother Goose Time and Story Time in the children's room on Wednesday mornings and most Friday mornings.
