TOWN HALL RECORDS
      Building permits J. Nelson received a permit Aug. 25 to erect a temporary tent on Aug. 27 and dismantle it Aug. 29 at 368 East Shore Rd., work estimated to cost $3,500. Joseph and Barbara DiStefano received a permit Aug. 26 to build guest quarters above an existing garage at 276 East Shore Rd., work estimated to cost $70,000.

POLICE LOG
      Marijuana possession charged Lauren Amos, 22, of Bristol was charged Aug. 27 with first offense marijuana possession after she was stopped at Ft. Wetherill for violation of state park closing regulations, police said. Amos was scheduled for arraignment Sept. 5 at Newport District Court, police said.

FIRE AND EMS RUNS
      12:38 p.m., Aug. 25, Marine 1 and Engine 3 were dispatched to Ft. Wetherill to search for a person in the water. 3:45 a.m., Aug. 26, Car 1 and Engine 3 went to Grinnell Street to standby for a medical emergency. 7:30 p.m., Aug. 26, All units responded to a training drill at the fire station on Narragansett Avenue.
