Marijuana possession charged

Lauren Amos, 22, of Bristol was charged Aug. 27 with first offense marijuana possession after she was stopped at Ft. Wetherill for violation of state park closing regulations, police said.

Amos was scheduled for arraignment Sept. 5 at Newport District Court, police said.

Drunk driving charged

• Genaro A. Merette, 45, of Providence was charged Aug. 29 with drunk driving with a .10 to .15 blood alcohol content after police stopped him for erratic operation of a vehicle on Route 138, police said.

Merette was held at the police station and a Sept. 5 arraignment date was scheduled at Newport District Court, police said.

• Michael Nicynski, 34, of North Providence was charged Aug. 30 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test after he was stopped for running a stop sign, police said.

Nicynski was scheduled for a Sept. 12 arraignment at Newport District Court, police said.

• Gary G. Ingram, 51, of Providence was charged Aug. 31 with first offense drunk driving and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after he was stopped on Route 138 westbound for speeding and swerving, police said.

Ingram was held overnight at the police station and a Sept. 5 pre-trial hearing was scheduled at Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license and

warrant violation charged

Jeffrey R. Johnson, 34, of North Kingstown was charged Sept. 1 with a warrant violation for failure to attend a court hearing for driving with a suspended license after the North Kingstown Police Department alerted Jamestown police that he works in a local restaurant, police said.

Johnson was picked up and held at the Jamestown police station where he was arraigned and then turned over to the NKPD. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for Sept. 5 at Newport District Court, police said.
