Ferguson plays in Prague Lacrosse Cup
Sydney Ferguson traveled to the Czech Republic as part of the United States Under-19 lacrosse team to compete in the Prague Cup. This was no ordinary summer for islander Sydney Ferguson. She was a member of a United States Under-19 lacrosse team that competed in the Prague Cup in the Czech Republic from July 9 to 12. The USA team won beating the Czech A Team 14-7 in the finals.
This was the first year that a U-19 competition was held in Prague as they usually host college level teams. Players on the U.S. team came from across the country and three of the coaches were former Division I players.
The U-19 team was selected by a few of the coaches to represent the USA Athletes International at the Prague Lacrosse Cup.
Ferguson's teammate from North Kingstown High School, Taylor Bastien, was the only other girl from Rhode Island on the team. Ferguson was the MVP of the first game of the tournament and tied for second in total number of assists in the tournament.
After her return from Prague, Ferguson was asked by one of the coaches to go to Australia and compete in a college level competition in December.
Ferguson was a former captain of the North Kingstown lacrosse team was a 2nd Team All-State selection last season. Ferguson is beginning her freshman year at Wheaton College and will be playing Division III lacrosse in the spring.
