David H. Vieira, 84

David H. Vieira, 84, of Pemberton Avenue, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 at South County Hospital. He was the former husband of Jenny B. (Cox) Foster. Born in Jamestown, he was a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Henry) Vieira.

He was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran, who served in World War II. He worked for the Jamestown Highway Department for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the VFW in Jamestown and Seabee Veterans of America.

Besides his former wife, he leaves five sons, Fred Cole of St. Augustine, Fla., David H. Vieira, Jr. of Danielson, Conn., Mark Vieira of Manchester, N.H., Paul Vieira of Jamestown and Neal Vieira of Hollis, Maine; a daughter, Lynn Burnell of Kingfi eld, Maine; a brother, Arthur Vieira of Exeter; a sister, Theresa Blanchard of Jamestown; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Frank, Edmund and Carl Vieira.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated yesterday at St. Mark Church Burial with military honors was in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Jamestown Fire Department, 50 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, RI 02835 will be appreciated.

Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
