Ghouls' Rules raises fun with eco-friendly theme
      Autumn is here, but that quirky island urge to duct tape things together for a contest still prevails. Ghouls' Rules, a dance party slated for Oct. 25, challenges all ages to enter an original design costume created from untraditional materials.

Buy a calendar to help student athletes
      On Saturday, Sept. 27, members of several sports teams at North Kingstown High School will be selling their fund-raising calendars door-to-door. The NKHS Booster Club sponsors the calendar sale, which allows purchasers to enter a drawing to win a prize each day during the month of December.

Musical classes coming to island
      Ready, Set, Play with Cindy will present Kindermusik classes at 87 Narragansett Ave. at St. Matthew's Church, beginning the week of Sept. 15. The classes will be conducted by Cindy Olsen of Jamestown, a Kindermusik licensed educator.

Book groups post fall reading schedule
      The next book to be read by the book groups at the Jamestown library will be "Breakfast with Buddha," by Roland Merullo. The book will be discussed on Monday evening, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. and Tuesday afternoon, Sept.16, at 1 p.m.

      The 1657 Conanicut Island Land Agreement display wall in the Jamestown Town Hall will be dedicated on Thursday, Sept.18, at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to view the wall and enjoy the ceremony and refreshments.

College fair in Newport this weekend
      The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) will hold a college fair for students on Aquidneck Island and the surrounding towns on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newport campus. The event will include a seminar on financing a college education, presented by the Rhode Island Higher Education Assistance Authority, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Volunteers needed for new town committee
      The Town Council is seeking volunteers for the newly established Town Charter Review Committee. Members of this committee will conduct a review of the Town Charter within the parameters set by the Town Council.
