Sunday school starts this weekend at St. Matthew's
Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Jamestown kicked off the new school year with a Eucharist service and cook-out at Fort Getty last Sunday.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, the new Sunday School year begins for all children in grades pre-K through 9. All are welcome. Parents can register their children for Sunday School using forms that will be available upon arrival. Sunday School runs from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The children then join their parents in the church for communion.
On Sunday, Sept. 28, St. Matthew's will be hosting its annual Golf Tournament and Steak & Fish Fry at the Jamestown Golf Course. Tee times are from noon to 2:15 p.m. A time can be reserved in advance until all slots are filled by contacting R.J. Coulter at 423- 1521. Payment in cash or check should be sent to St. Matthew's. The fee for golfers will be $20.
Dinner will begin around 5 p.m. There will be a choice of steak or swordfish, and the meal will include baked potato, salad, fresh corn, and rolls. The price for the meal will be $25. All are welcome and do not have to play golf in order to come to the dinner. There will also be a raffle and a silent auction. Portions of each sponsored hole, round of golf and silent auction purchases will benefit the ministries of Saint Matthew's church.
