Musica Dolce kicks off new season
The Musica Dolce Chamber Orchestra will begin the Jamestown Community Piano Association 2008-2009 season with a concert on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 4 p.m. at St. Matthew's Church. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program features the piano quintet in A major by Antonin Dvorak, with Paul Rosenbloom playing the Jamestown Community Piano. Rosenbloom is well known to Rhode Island audiences as the principal pianist of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. He is the composer-in-residence with Musica Dolce as well as its associate artistic director and a frequent soloist with the orchestra.
The G major string quintet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lexione 2 for harp and viola d'amore by Attilio Ariosti complete the program.
The concert is the first of four concerts planned for the 2008- 2009 season. The next concert on Nov. 2 will bring students from the University of Rhode Island music program to Jamestown.
The Jamestown Community Piano Association is an organization whose purpose is to maintain the piano for use by the community and to present concerts that feature the piano. All concerts are free. Donations for piano maintenance and performance support are appreciated.
