Where in the World is the Jamestown Press?
     Kimberly Lellis-Dibble, and her husband, Nathan, took the Press with them on their honeymoon in Ireland. The couple was visiting castle ruins in the Aran Islands.

Officer says future of community is in the hands of the children
      Jamestown police officer Scott Sullivan, 37, said that the future of any community is in the children. "It's always been that way, and always will be," Sullivan said. "That's why it is so important for everybody to be involved with their upbringing. Their family, teachers, the police and everyone they come in contact with is going to be an influence.

Rachel's Challenge comes to North Kingstown High School
      Rachel Scott, a beautiful 17- year-old girl, was the first person killed on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School. According to Rachel's father, Darrell Scott, the diaries and other communications that Rachel left behind reveal her premonition that she would die young, but also that her short life would somehow touch millions of people's hearts.

High school cross country teams kick off their season
      Under a beautiful, but unseasonably warm, September sky, the North Kingstown High School girls' and boys' cross country teams ran a tough course Monday at St. Georges' in Newport against Prout and Chariho. "This is the most dreaded course of the season. It is not a ton of hills, but three really big hills," Junior Caitlin Downing said.

Island residents recall storm from 70 years ago
      Seventy years ago this Sunday, on Sept. 21, 1938, a storm of unimaginable fury roared across New England. The Great Hurricane of 1938 slammed into Jamestown early that afternoon and forever changed the lives of those who lived through it. It remains one of the worst disasters in North American history.

Environmental protection is considered in wind power feasibility study
      A handful of interested residents joined the Jamestown Wind Energy Committee and Conservation Commission for a progress check on the wind feasibility study at a public workshop on Sep. 9. Wind committee chairman Don Wineberg said that two agenda items were set for the joint meeting that evening.
