Disaster drill a success because of volunteers
      Many thanks to all who participated in the RIEMA Disaster Drill on Saturday, Sept. 13. The drill was a simulation of needing to open our Melrose School shelter as a result of the effects of a hurricane.

JHS house tour a big success
      The Jamestown Historical Society had a very successful House Tour weekend on Sept. 12 and 13. Over 75 members attended the "Members Only" party on Friday night and more than 225 visitors toured the historic houses on Saturday.

Thief on the island
      There has been a theft on North Main Road, several actually. The thief probably does not live on North Main Road, but someone has stolen a yard sign several times from our driveway. We put a single political sign on our driveway; nothing intrusive, just the name of candidate that we endorse. Someone has stolen our sign. We replaced the sign, someone stole it again.
