Where in the World is the Jamestown Press?
     Bill Hamel, and his friend Bryan Johnson, took the Press to South Dakota while on a three-week working vacation. Bill's motorcycle and sidecar were used as a platform to do a photo shoot, which will be used for the 2009 Indian Motorcycle advertisements.

Andrea Brayman wins Half Ironman
      Islander Andrea Brayman was the top female in the FirmMan Rhode Island Half Ironman held on Sunday in Narragansett. Brayman easily won the race consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run (or half marathon). Her time of 4:57.55 beat the next closest woman by more than 15 minutes and Brayman was thrilled with her performance.

Right of Way at Hull Cove still a divisive issue
      A letter to the Conservation Commission from Hull Cove resident Varoujan Karentz concerning the public right-of-way at Hull Cove was addressed by Conservation Commission Chairman Chris Powell at Monday's Town Council meeting.

Protection of environment is concern for the Conservation Commission
      Granting relief for a wetlands setback restriction was not an option Jamestown could afford, the Conservation Commission agreed at its Sep. 16 meeting. The commission reviewed the memorandum sent to the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Review regarding a development plan in the Jamestown Shores Area.

Medical fund golf tournament rescheduled
      The Jamestown Medical Fund Golf Tournament that was cancelled due to stormy weather on Sept. 6 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11. The time for the shotgun start remains at 8 a.m. The tournament is in memory of Phil Hunt, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year, and was an avid golfer.

Planners focus on zoning ordinances in village
      Updating the zoning regulations in the Jamestown Village Special Development District was the focus of the Planning Commission's first meeting of the month on Sept. 17. Town Planner Lisa Bryer reviewed the goals, policies and actions of the Comprehensive Plan, which includes the Affordable Housing Plan, as they relate to the update of the zoning ordinance in the village.

Harbor commission receives clarification on mooring fields
      The long-awaited meeting with Coastal Resources Management Council Marine Resources Specialist Kevin Cute finally transpired at the Harbor Management Commission's Sept. 17 meeting. Although the meeting needed to be postponed from Sept. 10 to accommodate Cute's schedule, he arrived as planned and discussed ordinance issues with the commissioners at length.
