Chamber Chatter

By Vicki de Angeli

The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce is proud to report that our annual fundraiser, "Night At …", which this year was aptly titled, "Gettywood," was once again a huge success. The event was very well attended with everyone enjoying great food and dancing to top-notch entertainment. The Chamber is very happy to announce that a donation of $5,000 was made to the Jamestown Community Theatre, a worthy recipient indeed.

The Chamber's latest "After Hours" was held at the Bay Voyage on Wednesday, Sept. 24. This event saw one of the highest turnouts to date, with everyone having a great time socializing with friends and associates. These get-togethers are a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow Chamber members and enjoy light refreshments.

October's "After Hours" for Chamber members will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. When the location has been finalized, notices will be sent out.

Aug. 13 was Sidewalk Sales Day in Jamestown, and our local merchants report that it was a great success. We are planning to keep this as an annual event and hope to add more activities to make the day even more exciting. This is a great way to support our local businesses.

Jamestown Community Theatre artistic director Mary Wright and president Donna Gavin are presented a $5,000 check by Jamestown Chamber of Commerce president Vicki de Angeli and John McCauley, who chaired the chamber's recent Night at Ft. The Chamber is looking to fill two vacant board seats, one for a three-year term and one a twoyear term. Any chamber member that is interested in serving on the board should contact board vice president, Peter Brockmann, at 423-1969.

The next marketing meeting for the Chamber will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 8 a.m. at 28 Bryer Ave. These meetings are open to the public and all are welcome.
