Drunk driving charged

• Carlton Winsor, 44, of 23 Catamaran St., was charged Sept. 4 with second offense refusal to take a Breathalyzer test and first offense drunk driving after he was involved in a car accident on Tashtassuc Road, police said.

Winsor was arraigned at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Sept. 30 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Steven White, 64, of North Kingstown, was charged Sept. 20 with refusal to take a Breathalyzer test, and first offense drunk driving with an unknown blood alcohol level after he was stopped on Route 138 westbound for driving erratically, police said.

White was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 3 at Newport District Court, police said.

Driving with suspended

license charged

• Meggan Hovanesian, 35, of 40 Reservoir Circle, was charged Sept. 4 with driving with a suspended license after police recognized her and stopped her on East Shore Road. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 24 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Steven Lennon, 41, of East Greenwich, was charged Sept. 13 with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on East Shore Road for not having a front license plate. After calling in his driver's license number, police discovered it was suspended, police said. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 3 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Michael Rizzo, 30, of Portsmouth, was charged Sept. 14 with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Route 138 at the toll plaza for having dark tint on all of the car's windows, police said. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Sept. 19 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Joshua Behan, 28, of Ashaway, was charged Sept. 14 with driving with an expired license after he was stopped on Route 138 for speeding, police said. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 10 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Jerry Moening, 21, of North Kingstown, was charged Sept. 20 with driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Route 138 eastbound for a traffic violation, police said. Moening was scheduled to have a pre-trial hearing on Oct. 3 at Newport District Court, police said.

Simple assault charged

Arthur Washburn VI, 46, of North Kingstown was charged Sept. 9 with simple assault or battery after being involved in an argument that turned physical on Narragansett Avenue, police said.

Washburn was held at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Sept. 19 at Newport District Court, police said.

Domestic charges filed

Daniel DeCrescenzo, 22, of Riverside, was charged Sept. 19 with domestic disorderly conduct and driving to endanger that resulted in personal injury following a domestic incident on Mast Street. As De- Crescenzo attempted to leave the situation on Mast Street, he drove recklessly and sideswiped a car, police said.

DeCrescenzo turned himself in at the police station where he was held overnight and arraigned. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 3 at Newport District Court, police said.

Multiple charges filed

William Cregan, 26, of 95A Howland Ave., was charged Sept. 22 on Clinton Avenue with disorderly conduct, simple assault, and resisting arrest after a caller reported an intoxicated male entering their house in the middle of the night, police said.

Cregan was held at the police station and arraigned the next morning at Newport District Court, police said.

Marijuana possession charged

• Cory Jones, 22, of South Windsor, Conn., was charged Sept. 25 with first offense possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct after the car he was driving was stopped on Route 138 eastbound for a traffic violation and the arresting officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the car, police said.

Jones was held at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 3, police said.

• Bettina Sommers, 21, of South Windsor, Conn., Kelly Owens, 22, and James Griffin, 21, both of Newport were charged Sept. 25 with first offense marijuana possession after the car in which they were passengers was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 138 and the officer smelled marijuana in the car, police said.

All were held at the police station where they were arraigned and pre-trial hearings were scheduled for Oct. 3 at Newport District Court, police said.
