Trinity Rep opens with retelling of classic story
      It has been said there are no new stories left to tell — only old stories with a fresh perspective. Such is the case with the Trinity Repertory Company's dramatic season opener and world premiere of "The Dreams of Antigone." It may be 2,500-yearold Greek tale, but one could believe the guts of the story were snatched from the headlines of this morning's newspaper.

Barber has given many first haircuts in 22 years
      As Ken Silvia, master barber and proprietor of Ken's Barber Shop on Conanicus Avenue, draped a barber's cape over a customer and cut his hair, he reminisced about the old days when he started in the business. Broadway performer to debut one-man show on island
      The Jamestown Community Theatre will present Jon Peterson, Broadway and off-Broadway actor, singer and dancer in a one-man premiere cabaret called, "Song Man, Dance Man." The musical numbers will feature songs and dances originally performed by George M. Cohan, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis Jr., Charles Aznavour, and Anthony Newley.

Dating violence topic of library workshop
      The Friends of the Jamestown Library will host a workshop on teens and dating violence on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. The workshop will be presented by the Women's Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties The goal of this workshop is to bring a message about dating violence to a very vulnerable population.
