Campaign signs are not welcome
      It used to be that the local political parties had an understanding that campaign signs were not good for the town - visual pollution, ect.. Apparently, times have changed. The then conventional wisdom was that those candidates who planted the signs lost the election.

Project a success thanks to community
      You may have taken a second look as you drove by St. Matthew's Church last Saturday evening with the fire pits burning and cardboard "tents" scattered about the lawn. It was St. Matthews' youth group's "One Night Without a Home" project-the first event, in a year-long initiative to help the hungry and homeless in Rhode Island.

Adopted cat dies after shooting
      Last summer, I noticed a young black cat in our yard every now and again. He was hanging around the chicken coop, and we developed a simple relationship in which I would yell, and he would bolt into the woods.

Annual bike race coming Monday
      The 33rd Annual Jamestown Classic is just a few short days away and the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce want you to know that Narragansett Avenue is open for business. Even though we are expecting about 500 riders this year, we hope that the planning we've done and the changes we made will make for a less stressful event for you and our local merchants.
