Suspended license charged

• John DiBenedetto, 22, of Medford, N.Y., was charged Sept. 26 with driving with a suspended license after police stopped him on Route 138 for driving at night without lights, police said.

A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 10 at Newport District Court, police said.

• Mary E. Bennett, 40, of 52 North Main Rd., was charged Oct. 3 with driving with a suspended license after police recognized her and stopped her car at Clarke and Anthem Street, police said.

An arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 17 at Newport District Court, police said.

Bench warrant

violation charged

• Melanie Gillis, 45, of 359 Highland Drive, was charged Sept. 28 with a bench warrant violation from Newport District Court after police recognized her and stopped her on High Street, police said.

A court date at Newport District Court is yet to be scheduled, police said.

• Amy Gladding, 33, of 66 Pemberton Ave., was charged Sept. 29 with a bench warrant violation after police picked her up at work, police said.

A court date at Newport District Court is yet to be scheduled, police said.

• Brittany Freeman, 21, of 167 Conanicus Ave., was charged Oct. 6 with a bench warrant violation after police picked her up at her home, police said.

Freeman was taken to Newport District Court where she was held for failure to attend a sentencing. A hearing is yet to be scheduled, police said.

Possession of

marijuana charged

John Vieira, 51, of 35 Bryer Ave., was charged Oct. 3 with 2nd offense possession of marijuana after police responded to a caller reporting a man allegedly passed out on his property, police said.

Vieira was held at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled at Newport District Court, police said.

Possession of alcoholic beverage

by a minor charged

Four 17-year old Jamestown juveniles were charged Oct. 4 with underage possession of alcoholic beverages after an underage drinking party on Fort Getty Road was reported, police said.

Family Court dates have yet to be scheduled, police said.

Warrant violation charged

Jerry Moening, 21, of North Kingstown, was charged Oct. 4 by Narragansett Police for violation of a Jamestown PD warrant after police recognized him and picked him up, police said.

Moening was turned over to Jamestown Police and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 17 at Newport District Court, police said.
