Youth center benefits from golf and spa event
The Fourth Annual Golf Tourney and Spa Day at the Carnegie Abbey Golf Club in Portsmouth netted $43,000 to benefit the scholarship fund at the Ishi Dojo Youth Center in Providence's Southside. There were a total of 100 people in attendance including golfers, spa participants and dinner guests.
David L. Piccoli II of Jamestown, who established the Youth Center, and his wife Gilda Piccoli co-chaired the event.
According to David Piccoli, "Over the past four years this event has been instrumental in our being able to provide unique programs to the kids at the Ishi Dojo Youth Center. It takes many volunteers to put this together, and Gilda and I are very grateful for the generous support we have received, from the time given by volunteers to funds and auction items donated by sponsors and donors."
Ishi Dojo is a non-profit youth center located at 65 Pavilion Ave., Providence, that offers after school programs in martial arts, physical fitness, nutrition, mentoring and dance to promote a healthy and productive lifestyle.
