Thanks to many for successful bike race

The 33rd Annual Jamestown Classic was a successful event thanks to the hard work and support of many volunteers. We received many thanks from riders and positive comments about our town and this event. Special thanks go to the Jamestown Police Department, Jamestown EMS and our volunteer road marshals for keeping the riders and spectators safe. And, thank you to the American Red Cross of Rhode Island for allowing us use of the tent for first aid.

As with any large event with more than 1,000 people attending, some are inconvenienced. We appreciate the community's tolerance and patience during the race. During our planning, we work hard to minimize inconveniences. The races went off smoothly, but we still have work to do with parking and traffic flow downtown. This year we communicated to riders about our parking plans and had volunteers monitoring Narragansett Avenue. But, still we had some issues with participants parking in the wrong locations. We will do a better job with this in the future.

All things considered, this was a very successful event.
