Volunteers needed to help prepare tax returns

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and provides courtesy return preparation assistance to people who cannot afford professional tax help, such as seniors, disabled, low-income and non-English speaking people.

The IRS has scheduled one early training session. The class will be held twice a week for four weeks. The training will be held at The Education Exchange located at The Stedman Center, 4808 Tower Hill Rd., Wakefield, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 27 through Nov. 19. Volunteers are expected to attend all sessions.
