Drunk driving charged

• Martha Powell, 65, of 13 Nautilus St., was charged Nov. 1 with drunk driving and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test when her car was stopped on Beacon Avenue for erratic operation, police said.

Powell was held overnight at the police station where she was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 21 at Newport District Court, police said.

• James Killian, 33, of Middletown, was charged Nov. 2 with first offense drunk driving and driving with a suspended license after his vehicle was stopped on Conanicus Avenue for erratic operation, police said.

Killian was held overnight at the police station where he was arraigned and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 14, police said.

Underage possession charged

Paul Turillo, 19, of 13 Lawn Ave., was charged Nov. 1 with possession of alcohol by an underage person when a vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped on Seaside Drive, police said.

A pre-trial hearing is yet to be scheduled at Newport District Court, police said.

Driving without a license charged

Eliud Rodriguez, 21, of Providence was charged Nov. 1 with driving without a license when he was stopped on Route 138 east at the Newport Bridge Toll Plaza, police said.
