Housing topic of church forum
Increased mortgage expenses, rising heating costs, and unexpected repair bills can place homeowners in a housing "bind."
Rhode Island Housing staff members will provide tips and strategies to avoid such binds during a forum on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. The program, which is free of cost, is open to all residents of Jamestown and surrounding areas.
Rhode Island Housing works to ensure that all people who live and work in Rhode Island can afford a safe, healthy home that meets their needs. The organization provides low-interest loans, grants, education, advocacy and customers buy and retain their homes.
Cathleen Paniccia, the organization's director of administration and home ownership, and Elaine Hebert, assistant director of alternative lending, will lead the forum.
Forum participants will be able to sign up for private consultations on what to do when facing trouble with housing-related expenses or the risk of losing a home to foreclosure.
Central Baptist Church is located at 99 Narragansett Ave. For more information about the forum, call 423-1651.
