Fill an empty bowl tomorrow
Great soup, homemade desserts and live jazz will all be cooked up tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 14, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in the Melrose School Multipurpose Room for the 2008 Empty Bowls Fund-raiser. Soups, bread, homemade desserts and drinks are included in the admission price. This is truly a community event; all funds raised by the dinner will provide direct support to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
Jamestown is in its fourth year of holding this event which raises about $5,000 annually. All funds raised by this event are doubled through a challenge grant to the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Complementing the food, highlights include a live jazz trio, which will be playing for tips and a silent auction with bowl themed art and other items will be held. The making of the soups this year is supported by the Jamestown Rotary Club and will be made by volunteers from the community.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m., the cost will be $15 for adults, $10 for children, and t-shirts will be sold for $8 each.
