Newport Animal Hospital goes high tech green with expansion
      The Newport Animal Hospital has nearly completed construction of a new state-of-the-art addition at its facility on Valley Road in Middletown. Owner Dr. Jack Civic of Jamestown said he's proud of the fact that the new building is environmentally friendly.

Kids should turn down those iPods or risk hearing loss
      Years ago, legions of parents told their children to, "turn that stereo down or you'll go deaf." It turns out they were right. According to the National Institute of Health, harmful noise—sounds that are too loud or loud sounds that last a long time cause sensitive structures in the ear to become damaged.

Freshman football season a success
      Don't let the North Kingstown freshman football team's record fool you. Although they won only one game, all parties involved saw this season as a huge success. Head Coach Andy Donnelly said that this was the biggest turnout North has ever seen.

Riparian moorings not counted as part of island mooring fields
      The commissioners voted unanimously at the Nov. 12 Harbor Management Commission meeting to follow current regulations and not count riparian moorings as part of mooring fields. A riparian mooring is one that is deeded with property rights to land owners.

Islanders involved in making arts at Courthouse Center
      Two Jamestowners are headlining the newest play at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston. Lisa and Caellum Kerr and the rest of the company are in rehearsals for "A Christmas Story," which, like the film of the same name, is based on the book by Jean Shepherd.
