Thanks for a great season

The Jamestown Soccer Association's 2008 fall recreation season concluded on a beautiful autumn morning Oct. 25, with a full complement of soccer players of all age groups cheered on by family, friends and occasionally hoarse coaches. The younger players received a trophy and the older players were given a JSA T-shirt to commemorate the end of the season. Team photos and pizza were provided to all after their final game. The 2008 Thomas Jacquard Memorial Sportsmanship Award was given to Caleb Brown and the 2008 Leigha Carlisle Memorial Sportsmanship Award was given to Jessy Primiano, both players in the Under 12 league.

As co-directors for the fall season, we would like to recognize the time and effort put forth by all those individuals who contributed to the program's success by volunteering to coach a team. We would like to thank Steve Froberg for directing the excellent soccer skills sessions each week in the Under 6 league and serving as Under 6 league coordinator. Thanks also go to Jim Simmons for serving as the Under 8 league coordinator, Jack Christie for supervising the Under 12 league and John Warner for field layout and coordination. We would like to thank Susan Baccari for operating the concession stand, a task that is vital to the operation of the recreation soccer program, due to great coffee and Allie's donuts.

Thank you as well to Jay Sisson for coordinating and training the referees used throughout the season. The referees did an excellent job helping to keep the games running smoothly. Once again, we wish to thank Roberta Fagan for all of her efforts as JSA registrar and Darlene Froberg for her excellent photography of all the teams and players. Last but not least, we thank each sponsor of the 26 teams put on the field this year for supporting our league. From the smiles on the players' faces, we would have to say that 2008 Fall Soccer was a winning experience.
