"Inside the Mind of a Book Reviewer"
For those who have ever read a book review and wondered just what the reviewer was thinking, join the Friends of the Jamestown Library as they present writer Lisa Palmer for "Inside the Mind of a Book Reviewer," on Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the meeting hall at the Jamestown Library.
Palmer, a freelance book reviewer for the Providence Journal, will discuss how she selects books for review and what criteria she uses when reviewing a book. She'll show drafts and finished versions of books and press releases from publishers, and will touch on some of the shortcomings of getting early drafts of books vs. finished copies for review. Book club members, aspiring writers and avid readers will come away from the evening with a better sense of book publishing, reviews and publicity.
