Candi Mooney, 30, of Park Street, was charged Nov. 24 with obtaining money under false pretenses and embezzlement over $1,000, according to Rhode Island State Police.
Mooney was arrested as the result of an investigation initiated by the owner of Chopmist Charlie's restaurant, where she was a former employee, state police said.
Mooney was transported to the Wickford Barracks for processing, arraigned and released.
Her case was referred to the state attorney generalís office, state police said.
• Danielle Hall, 19, of Mast Street, was charged Nov. 19 with simple assault after police received a call about a disturbance.
Hall was held overnight and arraigned at the police station. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 28 at Newport District Court, police said.
• Norma Ibarlucea, 50, of Spanker St., was charged Nov. 20 with vandalism and malicious injury to property.
According to police, a caller reported that someone had smashed his lawn ornament and was throwing rocks at his vehicle.
Ibarlucea was held overnight and arraigned at the police station. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 25 at Newport District Court, police said.
False report of a crime charged
James Serra, 42, of Narragansett Avenue, was charged Nov. 21 with filing a false report of a crime and filing a fraudulent insurance claim for a stolen motor vehicle, police said.
A pre-trial hearing has not been scheduled, police said.
