Weekend with the birds slated at sanctuary
The Norman Bird Sanctuary is proud to launch the first of its new Ecotour programs, which feature wildlife-based travel throughout Rhode Island and the New England area. Ecotour trips will be offered seasonally, with a variety of themes including birding, marine ecology, and sustainable and locally-grown foods. The Sanctuary hopes to attract visitors from throughout the Northeast for these multi-day programs. Trips are geared for adults, though older teens may also attend.
The inaugural program, to be held Jan. 9 to 11, will spotlight the amazing winter migration of Rhode Island birds. Expert birders Jay Manning and Lauren Miller will lead the three-day Ecotour adventure, which features visits to birding hotspots throughout the region.
This exciting package begins Friday at 4 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 11 a.m. The weekend includes Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch, and Sunday brunch. Hotel accommodations can be arranged through NBS and are available for an additional fee. The cost is $110 for the entire weekend package; $60 for Saturday only, members; and $75 for non-members.
Space for all Ecotour trips is limited, so early registration is encouraged. For more information, please call 846-2577 or visit www. NormanBirdSanctuary.org.
