Zachary Volpe, 89
Zachary Volpe, 89, of Providence, died peacefully on Wednesday,
He was a gunners' mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII and a lifelong member of the Wanskuck Boys Club.
He was a barber by trade and worked side by side with his late brother, Hugo, for over 60 years at Hugo's Barber Shop on Branch Avenue in the North End of Providence.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David Z. Volpe and his wife Jean Daly of Jamestown and Kenneth Z. Volpe and his wife Mary Jean of Foxboro, Mass.; two sisters, Alice Boffi and Vera Uttley; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Brian, Meredith, Benjamin, and William Volpe. He was the beloved uncle of Fred and Jean Uttley of Jamestown. He was the brother of the late Anna Albano, John, Oswaldo, Hugo, Mario, and Alfred Volpe.
Burial was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 529 Charles St. Providence, RI, 02904.
