Prepare pets for new baby's arrival

South County Hospital will sponsor an important class to help expectant parents who are pet owners, prepare their homes—and their pets—for the new arrival, so that all can be safe and happy.

The free two-hour workshop, called Baby-Ready Pets, is offered one evening a month, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the hospital. Currently, the program is scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month, through May 12.

The program is offered in collaboration with the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island, and is led by Megan Machnik, staff member and Humane Education Coordinator, and Betty Laurin, a professional animal trainer/evaluator who volunteers for the animal rescue league.

South County Hospital is the only hospital in the state of Rhode Island offering this program. The class is free, but pre-registration is encouraged since class size is limited. Call 792-2233 for information or to register.
