Learn to manage invasive plants

The University of Rhode Island will hold an invasive plant management certification program at the URI Narragansett Bay Campus on Jan. 23 and 24. This class is particularly helpful for landscape professionals and transportation maintenance staff who work within coastal buffer zones.

The workshop will include discussion of coastal plant communities, CRMC regulations, site assessments and inventories, control measures, invasive plant disposal and revegetation techniques.

Program leaders represent CRMC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, and Delaware-based Integrated Vegetation Management Partners, Inc..

The workshop fee is $150 for both days, which includes lunch and training materials. Registration deadline is Jan. 16. For more information contact Kate Venturini at 874-4096 or kate@uri.edu.
