Never too late to play the piano

The URI Preparatory Music Program will again offer its popular beginning piano classes for adults and children starting in February. All classes take place in the Fine Arts Center on URI's Kingston campus.

Adult Beginner Piano Class Level I is open to adults with no previous piano experience. It is a basic introduction into playing the piano and reading music, taught by Christine Müller. This class will meet Monday evenings from 7 to 8:15 p.m. for six weeks beginning Feb. 4.

Four Hands Together Piano Class Level I is an eight-week piano class open to children ages 4 to 7 who come with a parent. Parents will be actively involved in the class and at home but don't need any prior knowledge of music. Taught by Christine Müller, the course covers the basic elements of music with songs, rhythms and improvisation on the piano. Materials are included. A piano or keyboard for practice is required. The class will meet on Saturday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., beginning Feb. 2.

Private lessons are also available in most instruments and voice.
