Learn about owls at Blithewold

Blithewold will shed some light on mysterious owls during their Owl Prowl on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m.

Fred Orweiler, former director of education at Norman Bird Sanctuary, will speak about the nocturnal birds of prey. The evening will begin with an owl pellet dissection to inspect the indigestible portion of an owl's meal including teeth, bones, and feathers. Visitors will then learn how to imitate owl calls, head outside and use their owl-hooting skills to try and call in an owl. The evening will conclude with hot cider and cookies after the walk. Wearing warm, quiet clothing is requested. Pre-registration is required and is free to Blithewold members and $3 for non-members. Call 253-2707, ext. 21 to register, or visit www.blithewold.org.
