Sailing Lecture Series begins tonight

The Friends of the Jamestown Library will feature Ernest Jacquet, owner of 1980 America's Cup winner Freedom, as part of its Sailing Lecture Series tonight, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the library.

Jacquet, a founder and managing partner of Parthenon Capital in Boston, will speak about his search for the missing Freedom in 1998 and the challenges he encountered getting her back to the States. He will share how she has been restored to Olin Stephens' original design and recount with the audience the many races she has participated in and won since 2001, including the 2007 Ted Hood Trophy and the 12-meter Centennial European Tour.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Susan Lutes at 423-7435, or call the library at 423-7280.
