Scholarship for military dependents

Applications for the Newport Officer's Spouses' Club 2008 Scholarship will be available beginning Feb.1.

These merit-based scholarships are open to high school seniors who are dependents of active duty, retired, or deceased military members, as well as the dependents of Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists on active duty status, both enlisted and officer ranks.

Scholarship selection will be based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community involvement, experience, volunteerism, achievements and recognitions, an essay, and letters of recommendation.

The scholarship application period is Feb. 1 to April 15. Completed application packages must be postmarked no later than April 15.
