Islander named to state ethics panel

J. William Harsch
Jamestowner J. William Harsch has been appointed to the state Ethics Commission.

Harsch is one of two attorneys named to fill vacancies on the commission this week by Governor Donald Carcieri.

"This is a tremendous honor. I am very flattered," Harsch told the Jamestown Press. "The Ethics Commission plays an important role in enforcing standards of behavior for public officials in this state."

Harsch, a Republican, is a former town solicitor for Jamestown and Tiverton. He made unsuccessful bids for state attorney general in 2002 and 2006.
