Not all plastics are recyclable

Island Rubbish, the town's recycling contractor, is asking islanders to be aware that there are only two types of plastic items that are recyclable.

Only plastic jugs and bottles bearing a stamp on the bottom with a 1 or a 2 can be recycled. The caps must be removed. Currently no other plastics can be recycled.

Island Rubbish asks that residents not leave any other plastics in the blue bin for collection as it creates extra work for their drivers.
