Library to host poetry appreciation group

A new group of people who enjoy poetry reading, writing and the appreciation of the art form began last month at the Jamestown library.

The group will continue to meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, at 12:30 p.m. in the Sydney L. Wright Museum room at the library.

Leading the group will be Katherine Dunham, who has an extensive background in teaching and playing music as well as writing stories and poetry. Her purpose with this group is to spread the reading, writing and appreciation of poetry, to teach people to read poetry out loud, to understand it, to feel it.

Dunham assigned her small group the task of listening to car horns and bird songs to prepare for the next meeting on March 12. Sign up is not required. The meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 423-7280.
