Drunk driving charged

Kerri Toolan, 36, of Warwick was charged March 21 with first offense drunk driving after a motor vehicle accident on the Jamestown Bridge, police said.

Toolan refused a Breathalyzer test and was arraigned later that morning. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for April 4, in Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license violations

• Stacy Ward, 27, of Newport was charged March 20 with driving with a suspended license after being stopped for erratic driving on Route 138 eastbound.

Arraignment was scheduled for March 28 in Newport District Court, police said.

• Ashley Tiexeira, 20, of Peace Dale was charged March 25 with driving with a suspended license after being stopped for a traffic violation on East Shore Road.

Arraignment was scheduled for March 28 in Newport District Court, police said.

Bench warrant violation

Laura Smith, 38, of North Kingstown was charged March 26 with a bench warrant violation after being recognized by a police officer in Jamestown, police said.

No court date was set, and Smith was released on bail, police said.
