Quilt game ready to play in library

A number of quilts in the lobby of the library are there to test the knowledge of children and adults who look at them.

The April art show is an old-fashioned game that asks participants to try to name all the birds, animals and other objects sewn on to the quilts.

Sheets are posted to check answers and every age can play along. In addition, an instructive display board details the basic steps to take to create an appliquéd character quilt.

Jamestowner Jocelyn Donaghue, who is the Visual Arts Director at the Courthouse Center for the Arts, created the quilts. She is a current member and former board member of the Conanicut Island Art Association and a founding member of the newly formed Jamestown Arts Center. Library gallery shows are curated by Jillian Barber and sponsored by the CIAA.
