      The Friends of the Jamestown Library will focus on the 2009 12 Meter Worlds, as part of its Sailing Lecture Series, starting tonight, Thursday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the library.

Melrose preschool taking applications
      The Melrose Avenue Preschool is now accepting applications for the 2009 - 2010 school year. The program is a fully inclusive program, supporting all children, ages 3 to 5. Each session is three hours, with a morning and an afternoon session, Monday to Thursday, and a morning only session on Friday.

Pasta dinner raises money for teens
      The Teen Center's Youth Advisory Board, Adolescents Making Programs for Teens, is hosting its first event on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the recreation center, 41 Conanicus Ave. There will be a buffet-style pasta dinner with ziti and meatballs, salad and bread with a prize giveaway to follow.

Rock with the Elderly Brothers
      The Friends of the Jamestown Library will host the acoustic folk rock sounds of the Elderly Brothers at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the library. The Elderly Brothers have been making music in the Newport area for the past two years.
