JAMESTOWN EXEMPTION

NOTICE

The Tax Assessor is now accepting applications for the following tax exemptions:

DISABLED: Residents under the age of 65 who are determined to be totally disabled by the Social Security Administration. Also, veterans who have a 100% service-related disability or who have specially adopted housing.

ELDERLY: Residents over the age of 65 with gross incomes below $23,800 for a one person household or $31,800 for a two person household.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED: Residents who are defined as legally blind by Rhode Island General Laws.

VETERAN: Honorably discharged veterans (or surviving spouses) who submit copy of DD-214.

GOLD STAR PARENT: Residents with a son or daughter who has died as the result of service in the armed forces.

Exemptions will apply to the 2009- 10 tax roll. Applications must be filed by March 15, 2009.

If you desire to make any objection or defense to said Petition, you or your attorney must file a written appearance and an Answer under oath, setting forth clearly and specifically your objections or defense to each part of said Petition, in the Office of the Superior Court, in Newport, on or before the 20th day of February, 2009, that you may then and there show cause, if any, why the prayer of the Petitioner should not be granted. Unless your appearance is filed by or for you, your default will be recorded, the said Petition will be taken as confessed, and you will be forever barred from contesting said Petition or any Decree entered thereon. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE JAMESTOWN ZONING BOARD OF REVIEW WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING JANUARY 27, 2009, AT THE JAMESTOWN TOWN HALL 93 NARRAGANSETT AVENUE, JAMESTOWN, RHODE ISLAND AT 7:00 P.M. UPON THE FOLLOWING:

Application of The Town of Jamestown, whose property is located at 250 Conanicus Ave. (Police Station), and further identified as Tax Assessor's Plat 8, Lot 582 for a Special Use Permit under 82-603,expiration and extension of special use permits, and 82-302 Table 3-1, IV Gov't, Education, Institutional (10) Gov't Owned utility facility, and a variance under Section 82-302 District Dimensional Regulations Table 3-2, to construct a 1,190 square foot addition to the existing Police Station which will be 44'-11" from the front lot line wherein 50' is required.

Said property is located in a Public Zoning District and contains 60,000 sq. ft. +/-.
