Kurt Breneiser, 28, of 33 Frigate St., was charged Jan. 17 with driving a vehicle without consent of the owner and larceny over $500, police said.
According to police, the vehicle's owner reported Breneiser took the vehicle without consent. Police located the vehicle and Breneiser outside of the Bay Voyage, police said.
The vehicle's owner also reported that Breneiser had allegedly stolen property from him, police said.
According to police, while Breneiser was in custody for the vehicle charge, it was discovered that his shoes matched footprints left at the scene of two breaking and enterings in East Passage Estates and one in the downtown area. He was questioned and subsequently confessed to all three incidents, police said.
Breneiser was transported to Adult Correctional Institutes and the case was referred to the Newport Attorney General's Office, police said.
Driving on a suspended
• Michael Shurko, 50, of Cranston, was charged Jan. 12 with driving on a suspended license during a routine traffic stop, police said.
A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 16 at Newport District Court, police said.
• Christopher Alvares, 49, of Narragansett, was charged Jan. 17 with driving on a suspended license during a routine traffic stop, police said.
A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 30 at Newport District Court, police said.
