George A Berglund, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2009 at home.
He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Petersen) Berglund. They were married for 64 years. Born in Cambridge, Mass., he was a resident of Westwood, Mass. for 37 years before moving to Jamestown 11 years ago.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters; Susan Hanson and her husband, Warren of Exeter, N.H.; Martha Crane and her husband Donald of Bedford, N.H.; and Jane Toll and her husband, Job, of Jamestown.
He was the loving grandfather of Scott and Keith Hanson, Christopher and Camille Crane, and Benjamin and Alice Toll; and great grandfather of Nicholas and Katelyn Hanson. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Goodwin of Bedford, N.H.
He was a graduate of Northeastern University, a member of Orient Lodge A.F.+A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Aleppo Shriners and Central Baptist Church.
A veteran of World War II, he was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps serving as a P-47 Pilot with the 57th Fighter Group, 12th Air Force. He flew 110 sorties from bases in Italy and Corsica.
He loved flying and for several years flew his Piper Comanche out of Norwood Airport. He was a member of the Norwood Airport Association.
He was a volunteer at the Jamestown library for many years, raising and lowering the American flag every day.

Burial services at Westwood Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14 at Central Baptist Church in Jamestown.
