Rocky Hill offers girls' field hockey clinic
Girls in grades 5 through 8 are invited to attend a field hockey clinic on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich.
The day will involve beginner field hockey skills and drills, game playing time, and other activities for the girls to enjoy as they both learn and play this international sport.
The clinic is open to the public and will be taught by Rhode Island field hockey native, Traci Rainone, who is the head field hockey coach at Rocky Hill School, and Shaunessy Saucier, the head field hockey coach at Bryant University. Both played on the Division I team at the University of Maine and hope to teach the girls the basic skills needed for playing at both middle and high school levels.
The event will take place in the Rocky Hill School gymnasium. Players are expected to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and the clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The cost is $25 and includes a free T-shirt. The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 6 and space is limited. Registration forms can be found on the Rocky Hill School website at www.rockyhill.org.
