Drug possession, bench

warrant violation charged

William Keating, 20, of North Kingstown, was charged Jan. 20 with driving in possession of a controlled substance, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and a bench warrant violation from Newport District Court, police said.

According to police, Keating was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 138 eastbound. He was held at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 21 in Newport District Court, police said.

Drunk driving, drug

possession charged

Phillip Jordan, 47, of Wakefi eld, was charged Jan. 20 with first offense drunk driving, driving in possession of a controlled substance, drug possession and refusal to submit to a chemical test, police said.

According to police, Jordan was involved in a one-car motor vehicle accident on Route 138 westbound.

Jordan was held overnight at the police station and a pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 21 in Newport District Court, police said.

Underage possession of alcohol,

drunk driving charged

A 17-year-old juvenile from North Kingstown was charged Jan. 24 with first offense drunk driving, refusing to submit to a Breathalyzer test, possession of alcohol by a minor, resisting arrest and simple assault of a police

officer, police said.

According to police, the juvenile was stopped for erratic vehicle operation on Westwind Drive.

The case was referred to Family Court, police said.

Underage possession

of alcohol charged

Nicholas Medeiros, 20, of Bristol, was charged Jan. 24 with possession of alcohol by a minor, police said.

According to police, Medeiros was stopped for operating a vehicle over the white line. The officer observed alcohol in the back and Medeiros said it was his, police said.

A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Jan. 30 in Newport District Court, police said.

Bench warrant violation

Russell Koza, 39, of Wakefi eld, was arrested Jan. 23 on a bench warrant violation from Washington District Court, police said.

According to police, Koza was arrested during a suspicious activity investigation.

He was transported to Washington District Court, police said.

Driving on a suspended

license charged

Mary Bennett, 40, of 52 North Main Rd., was charged Jan. 25 with driving on a suspended license during a routine traffic stop, police said.

A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 6 at Newport District Court, police said.
