Photographer to share trip to Galapagos Islands

Rhode Island photographer and naturalist Prentice K. Stout will present a lecture and photo presentation about his travels to the Galapagos Islands on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Stout has traveled widely and had photographs featured in such publications as National Geographic.

He was a marine education specialist at the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography for almost 20 years. After his retirement, he taught oceanography at two area private schools and headed the YMCA Camp Fuller Sea Quest Marine Studies Program.

Stout received the Distinguished Naturalist Award from the Rhode Island Natural History Survey in 2000. His recent book, "A Place of Quiet Waters," pays tribute to the natural history of Point Judith Pond and the Harbor of Refuge.
